CM to attend crucial meet on mining in Delhi today

Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will be attending a high-level meeting of the central government as regards the mining issue in Goa, on July 12, in New Delhi.
The meeting will be chaired by Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah and attended by Union Minister for Mines Pralhad Joshi. Advocate General of Goa Devidas Pangam will also remain present for the meeting.
The meeting is expected to come out with a solution for restarting mining operations in Goa, which have been stopped since March 16, 2018, vide a Supreme Court direction.
The state BJP unit had assured Goans in its Lok Sabha election manifesto as regards restarting mining activities in the state.
BJP Rajya Sabha member from Goa Vinay Tendulakar had also urged the Centre to do so, during Zero Hour, in the Upper House of the Parliament.
