Picking the Best Potential Tottenham Hotspur Lineup to Face Manchester United on SundayDylan Bettencourt10 Jan 2019
Spurs will be looking to keep the pressure on Manchester City and keep their title hopes alive on Sunday evening, with Manchester United looking to continue their impressive form and pass their toughest test yet – proving to the rest of the Premier League that they are a force to be reckoned with for the remainder of the season under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.
Both teams are in good form, this is a match which should prove to be very interesting.
Hugo Lloris (GK) – Lloris seems to have overcome his start of season troubles and looks back to his best, with plenty of assured goalkeeping in recent weeks.
Danny Rose (LB) – Rose will have the task of keeping his England teammate Marcus Rashford quiet in a battle of trickery and speed for both players.
Davidson Sanchez (CB) – A worthy replacement for the injury troubled Vertonghen, Sanchez has looked comfortable and solid during the course of the season.
Toby Alderweireld (CB) – Most likely to be coming up against his Belgian teammate Lukaku, this matchup will be one of both wits and physicality.
Kieran Trippier (RB) – A man who has been playing consistently (if not consistently well) since the World Cup will look to carry on his good performances against an attacking United team.
Dele Alli (CM) – Alongside Eriksen, Alli has the ability to expose a United defense that has yet to be tested under Solskjaer's regime.
Christian Eriksen (CM) – The Dane's undeniable quality gives him the capability of unlocking any defense, and Eriksen will use his skill to break into the United defense and cause some damage.
Moussa Sissoko (CM) – Going through something of a revival in form this season, the former Newcastle man will look to deny Nemanja Matic the chance to get near his midfield partners to allow them the room to be free and showcase their skills.
Heung-min Son (LW) – A man in great form has been allowed to play this crucial match before heading off to the Asian Cup. He will look to leave with a bang and be the difference in a big game this weekend.
Harry Kane (ST) – Firing on all cylinders, Kane will be the biggest threat to the United defense with 14 goals in the Premier League. A goal on Sunday could put him ahead of the pack in the race for the golden boot.
Erik Lamela (RW) – Lamela could cause Luke Shaw some trouble with his pace and trickery down the right wing. With Son on his way to international duty, Lamela could prove very important in the coming weeks.
