The Maruti Baleno Facelift is likely to launch in India sometime around the first quarter of 2019. Apart from design and feature updates, the hatchback is also going to get a new diesel engine in its model line-up as well.
In the span of the next two-three years, Maruti Suzuki is going to add several new products to its product line-up. In addition to this, the Indo-Japanese automaker will also introduce an updated version of their existing model line-up. In the latter list will include the mid-life facelift of the Baleno premium hatchback, a car which has been doing quite well for Maruti. Now apart from the usual design and feature updates, we are expecting Maruti to alter the engine specifications of the Baleno with this update as well. The automaker is likely to replace the existing 1.3-litre diesel engine with an all-new 1.5-litre mill which it is developing in-house and is likely to meet BS-VI emission norms.
The reason for upgrading the engine specifications is that Fiat does not plan to upgrade the 1.3-litre motor to meet BS-VI pollution norms. According to Government regulations, starting 2020, all cars sold in India should be BS-VI complaint. Before the Baleno Facelift, Maruti could introduce this engine in the Ciaz or the Ertiga Facelift. Want to know more about the upcoming new Baleno?
