Maxi-scooters are quite popular globally. They provide more space than normal scooters and to some, it looks more stylish. From the huge range of maxi-scooters, we take the Honda PCX 150. Recent rumours were about its India launch, which sadly would not take. Although, the upcoming PCX 125, might come to India later.
Currently, the latest upcoming scooter from the Japanese giants, Honda, is the Honda PCX 125. It is scheduled to launch globally in September 2018 and there are chances that it might come to the Indian markets, sometime later. Some time back, there were rumours about the Honda PCX 150 launching in India. The PCX series has petrol and hybrid scooters in its range. The PCX 150 is currently popular in the US. However, speculations said that it might launch in India too. For the past 2 years, it has not come to India suggesting that the scooter would not launch in India. Also, if you see, the Indian markets are still not ready for maxi high-end and hybrid scooters. Most of the people are budget oriented and such scooters would easily cost much. However, after 1-2 years, its younger sibling, PCX 125 might launch in India.
The Honda PCX 150 India debut took place at the 2014 Auto Expo, where HMSI showcased this maxi-scooter to gauge the response of show-goers. A lot has changed since the scooter’s India debut. With premium products, like the Aprilia SR 150 and Vespa 150 going on sale in the country, it suddenly makes all the more sense to launch the PCX 150 here.
The PCX 150 is a premium scooter globally. According to the US price, it will cost around Rs 2.61 Lakhs for the ABS variant and 2.41 Lakhs for the non-ABS variant in India. If launched, it would4 rival the likes of Aprilia SR 150. At such a price point, the PCX 150 will become the most expensive scooter in India.
The PCX 150 features a 153cc engine single-cylinder engine. This motor outputs a max. power of 14 BHP at 8,500 RPM and a peak torque of 14 Nm at 5,000 RPM. The engine comes with a Honda V-Matic CVT auto transmission. The PCX benefits from large alloy wheels and telescopic front forks.
In India, Honda could introduce the HET tech to the PCX 150. This should enable the upcoming Honda scooter in India to deliver a peak mileage of 40 KMPL. Even in city, one can safely expect a mileage of 35 KMPL.
The Honda PCX 150 has a true top speed of 112 KMPH, which will make it one of the fastest automatic scooters in India.
