The Maruti Ciaz Facelift will adorn some cosmetic updates. In addition to this, it will also have a few alterations to its onboard equipment list. One of the biggest change with this mid-life update is going to be the new 1.5-litre petrol engine which is likely to have Suzuki’s mild-hybrid SHVS technology.
The mid-life update for the Maruti Ciaz is soon going to launch in India. The automaker has already commenced the production of the 2018 iteration of this mid-size executive sedan. We are expecting it debut to happen sometime around the month of July/August this year. According to recent developments, we have come to know that the updated Maruti Ciaz will come with a completely revised front end. In addition to this, there are other minor cosmetic updates as well. Furthermore, expect the sedan to come with some addition to its equipment list as well. For instance, it could get a sunroof in the range-topping models. However, the biggest change, according to recent speculations, is that this car will have an all-new 1.5-litre petrol engine. This unit in question is Suzuki K15B motor which is likely to make it to the next-gen Ertiga as well. More on this below.
According to unconfirmed media reports, it is likely that the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will launch in India this July. Going by that bookings will commence from the month before that. The latest iteration of this sedan will continue to retail from Maruti Nexa dealerships. It switched from the Arena to Nexa dealership chain last year.
Maruti Ciaz Facelift Price
With the update, we expect this sedan to continue to retail within the same price range as it does now. Currently, the base variant costs INR 7.83 Lakh and the top spec trim costs INR 11.62 lakh. That said, with the introduction of a new diesel engine, the prices of the diesel derivatives might go up slightly.

As mentioned before, this mid-size executive sedan is going to come with a new petrol engine. This is Suzuki 1.5-litre K15B unit. It will replace the current iteration’s 1.4-litre engine. The K15B is capable of producing 104 BHP of power along with 138 Nm of peak torque. It gets a 5-speed manual transmission along with the option of an automatic gearbox as well. Currently, the diesel derivative of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz comes with a 1.3-litre DDiS unit. This engine produces 88.5 BHP along with 200 Nm of peak torque. Time and again this engine is criticised for its lack of power.
As a result of this, Maruti is likely to introduce a more powerful 1.5-litre diesel engine which it is developing in-house. Speculations are on the rise stating that Maruti could use a new 1.5-litre petrol engine as well. This new motor will offer a slight increase in power and torque outputs. This motor produces 104 BHP of power along with 138 Nm of peak torque. It will continue to come with Suzuki’s mild-hybrid SHVS technology. However, for the first time, this tech will make its way to the petrol derivatives as well.

Expect a mileage of 20.73 km/l from the 1.4-litre petrol engine. The current 1.3-litre diesel engine gives a mileage of 28.09 km/l. The new 1.5-litre mill will offer slightly lower levels of fuel efficiency. That said, expect them to be above 27 km/l.

The updated version of this car will share the same platform as that of the current spec model. Hence, the dimensions, be it the exterior or the interiors one will remain exactly identical. Consequently, the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will measure 4490 mm in length, 1730 mm in width and 1485 mm in height. Furthermore, the car’s wheelbase will stand at 2650 mm while the ground clearance at 170 mm. In addition to this, the new version of this sedan will have a boot space of 510-litres.

The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is essentially a Facelift. As a result of this, the exterior profile will remain largely identical to the current model. That said, Maruti will slightly redesign important aesthetic bits. For instance, expect the front bumper to get a new design. Fog lamp housing along with the grille will feature a new look. Headlights will remain similar in shape but could get new details. The side profile will remain identical. However, the sedan can get new alloy wheels. Towards the rear, the tail-lamps will get new design elements. However, the boot-lid design will largely remain the same.
The cabin of the Facelift Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, just like its exterior profile, will remain identical to the current spec model. It will continue to come with the same dual tone colour scheme. The instrument cluster will be revised to freshen up the cabin. As far as the design an layout of the dashboard is concerned, it will remain the same. Maruti might add certain wood or silver accents to add to the visual appeal. The seat fabric could see a new design. Rest, all the major attributed will remain the same.

The updated version of this mid-size sedan will continue to retail through Maruti’s NExa dealership outlets. Hence, it will follow a different variant nomenclature as compared to the standard one. It will have the following variants in its model line-up.
Despite the visual modifications and updates to the cabin, the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will continue to retail in the following colours. In addition to this, Maruti might add a couple of other paint schemes as well.

The new Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will continue to come with features like projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights and LED tail-lamps. Top-end variant comes with alloy wheels, a touchscreen infotainment display, automatic climate control to name a few. Also on offer is rear view camera with parking sensors, cruise control, smoked headlamps and a possible introduction of a sunroof.
Right from the base variant onwards, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is going to offer dual airbags and ABS with EBD as standard across the range. Furthermore, the car is going to get ISOFIX child seat mounts as well. In the higher variants, it could offer up to six airbags in total.
This Sedan will compete with the likes of Honda City and Hyundai Verna. The Honda City recently received a facelift. The Hyundai Verna, on the other hand, just got a complete generation update. Furthermore, Toyota is all set to launch the Yaris in India this May. Hence, the competition for this sedan is about to get quite a lot tougher than before.
