The Hyundai i30 was seen testing in India multiple times recently. The uncamouflaged test mule hints towards either compone testing or a possible launch of the next-generation model in India. If the i30 was ever to launch in India, it will find its place above the i20 and hence cost close to INR 12 lakh.
There are numerous speculations on the rise stating that Hyundai might launch the i30 hatchback in India. Fueling these speculations are the numerous sighting of an uncamouflaged test mule of this hatchback in India. The current generation of the i30 is already on sale in the European countries. The South Korean automaker is completely silent about launching this vehicle in India. That said, we believe that it will not make any sense to bring the i30 to India. As if launched, it will sit above the i20 and cost INR 10-12 lakhs. Currently, this price segment is populated by the likes of compact urban SUVs which are in huge demand. However, you are never too sure as Hyundai did a same thing with the first generation i20 in India as well. Nevertheless, here we bring you all that you need to know about this premium hatchback.
Hyundai had been testing the upcoming model quite extensively over the past few months. The 2017 Hyundai i30 made its public debut at the Paris Auto Show in October 2016. India could get the premium hatchback by the end of 2019. However, we’re not sure if our market is mature enough for a hatchback that costs around Rs 10 lakhs.

The demand for premium hatchbacks has grown in the past few year with cars such as the Hyundai i20 and Maruti Baleno tasting tremendous success. However, the 2017 Hyundai i30 is a much bigger and a more premium offering than those two. Therefore, it will be significantly more expensive with prices falling in the sedan and small SUV territory. We’re not sure if the Indian market is mature enough for such a product. At the same time, however, the i20, when launched in India for the first time, wasn’t expected to taste as much success as it did.
